General Physical Asset and Maintenance Management

The Asset Partnership offers an integrated suite of training programmes designed to introduce the latest approaches to managing physical assets into organisations . Our objective is to provide industry with a set of tools to manage the often conflicting demands of performance improvement, cost reduction and risk management. Attending a course is just the start . Talk to us about our ability to help and support your organisation through the challenges of implementation!

The range of courses offered include:

Implementing Physical Asset Management Principles

This course provides an overview of the rapidly developing world of Physical Asset Management. This management discipline has grown out of the recognition that traditional maintenance management practices and processes are only part of the picture. A more "holistic" total life cycle approach to the design, acquisition, operation, maintenance and disposal of assets is embraced within the framework of Physical Asset Management.
•  The scope of Physical Asset Management
•  Best practice PAM processes and activities
•  Organisation culture and PAM
•  System support for PAM
•  Developing a PAM mission and strategy for your organisation

Forensic Engineering – Problem Solving

All physical assets suffer failure from time to time. Sometimes these failures are equipment-related and at other times involve failure of underlying management processes or changes to the inputs of the physical processes. The severity of these failures in terms of OH & S and cost often warrant application of Forensic Engineering techniques to identify the root cause, develop corrective actions and manage the implementation of those actions. This course covers seven critical steps from problem solving through to resolution:

• Data collection and problem definition
• Assembly and analysis of data in a structured format
• Identification of possible causes
• Methods to prove the true cause of the problem
• Techniques to develop possible solutions
• Identification of the most appropriate solution
• Project planning and project management techniques

As Forensic Engineering participants are often assigned with implementing change, they will also learn how to identify the key phases of change and are provided with techniques to assist them in guiding the team to the best possible outcome.

While the techniques covered in Forensic Engineering are generally team oriented, the skills learnt are equally applicable at the individual level. Participants will find their ability to problem solve everyday issues has improved considerably.

Typical participants include asset operators and maintainers, engineers and improvement facilitators.

Reliability-centred Spares

Ever wondered how to take the guesswork out of matching spares parts to maintenance needs? If so, this course is for you.

RCS is a derivative of the Reliability-centred Maintenance (RCM) process and is specifically targeted at decisions involving high cost, slow moving spares where the decision is often whether to stock zero, one or more parts. The objective of RCS is to clearly define what stock is essential for plant operation while reducing, or eliminating completely, stock that is unnecessary or can be effectively held by a vendor or other third party. Like RCM, the process provides a clear audit trail and a record of your decisions.

This course gives the delegates a clear understanding of the RCS process including:

•  The five questions of RCS
•  The RCS Decision Diagram
•  Understanding the factors that influence the spares holding decision
•  Making hold/no hold decisions without software
•  Making more complex decisions
•  Applying RCS without RCM (it is possible)

The Reliability-centred Spares process is supported by RCS Toolkit software distributed by The Asset Partnership.

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling

This two day Maintenance Planning and Scheduling course is unique in that it combines planning and scheduling 'theory' with practical exercises using the client's in-house maintenance management system, whatever it may be. Prior to the course, The Asset Partnership will work with the client to tailor the final half day session to incorporate a practical exercise using actual client information. Lessons are distilled out and action plans generated.

Three initial sessions cover the background to modern maintenance practices, the considerations in best practice maintenance planning and scheduling and the range of maintenance documentation usedin managing maintenance activities.  Lessons are reinforced through class exercises.  Full course documentation is provided.

This course provides delegates with a clear understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling including:

•  The definition and role of the Maintenance Function in the organisation
•  Maintenance Planning and Scheduling theory and basics
•  Maintenance documentation
•  Computerised Maintenance Management Systems, their functionality and role in planning and scheduling
•  Planning and Scheduling practical
