Two Day Project Management Training Course
100% of capital expenditure and significant operational expenditure are controlled through Project Management processes. However the business case for such expenditure is undermined or even negated by cost and time overruns. Uniquely, Project Management processes require the constructive interaction between all departments and successful projects are thus a true test of successful organisations.
Project management has evolved over the past four decades as the prime method to manage complex multidisciplinary efforts of either a technical or a non-technical nature. This two-day workshop will systematically introduce this extremely useful body of knowledge to both novices and to seasoned practitioners. Modern principles of project management will be covered in accordance with generally accepted international practices such as the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®). Embedding this Project Management culture and common language across an organisation provides a transformational change in yielding project benefits
This 2-day Project Management Training Course is designed to address the majority of the causes of project failure and includes the following modules:
- Defining your Project — Understanding stakeholder requirements and developing a Project Charter and Project Scope which best meets the business requirements. Ensuring Project benefits are realistic
- Developing Project Roles and Responsibilities — Ensuring clear project governance is in place. The project management process is supported by a number of departments and is viewed in the context of the wider corporate objectives and culture
- Embedding life-cycle asset management and risk management into the project management process.
- Project Phases —To provide a thorough grounding in project management fundamentals in 5 phases, with an acute appreciation of tollgate controls
- The Project Life Cycle — Engaging all stakeholders and managing risk and life cycle costs from the outset of the project and through each project phase
- Setting the Project Baseline and Managing Costs and Project Schedule — Ensuring costs and project schedule are under control throughout the life of the project. Using work breakdown structures (WBS), budgets and earned value management (EVM) to deliver your project ’On Time’ and ’On Budget’
- Project Closeout — Reviewing project benefits
The first candidates for training will be key influencers within asset intensive organisations who are currently (or about to be) involved in projects, both those who provide support (such as Procurement, Finance, IT, Contracts and Stores) and also experienced and new Project Managers. Our approach is to bring to life the project experiences of those who attend through a framework of industry standard project management processes.
Following the programme, tailored support can be provided including: coaching; examples of tools and procedures; quick start guides and standards; and sponsor awareness programmes. We can also provide support for your project management initiatives.
